INSTANT ACCESSGenerally, aptitude tests are administered at a test centre and are assessed under strict time conditions. The purpose of the tests is to assess your ability to solve difficult and complex problems. The tests themselves are usually multiple choice in nature. Although many people try to guess any questions they are not sure of the answer, the answer options are usually very close in nature. Therefore, the ability to guess accurately on a consistent basis is unlikely. Examples of aptitude tests include verbal reasoning and numerical reasoning.
The good news about aptitude tests is that they have been designed so that you do not finish the entire test. There are plenty of questions with the exam and, whilst not impossible to fully complete the tests, it is unlikely that a candidate will complete them. Many test-takers panic when they see the number of tests in the exam, and as a result, they will start to get many of the questions wrong due to rushing. You should approach the tests in a composed manner and whilst speed is of the essence you should not detract from accuracy as you may lose marks for incorrect responses.

THE USE OF APTITUDE TESTS AS A SCREENING PROCESS
Aptitude tests are also used as an effective initial screening process, especially for more complex and technical posts such as banking where an ability to competently interpret numerical data is imperative. In this case you will normal find that you are required to take an online aptitude test and your scores will automatically be processed by the employer or test administrator to determine whether or not you will be invited to the next stage of the selection and assessment process.
It is advisable that you take along your own calculator for the tests as the administrator may provide one that you are not familiar with. Because time is of the essence it is important that you use a calculator you know you can use quickly and effectively.
You will find that some verbal reasoning tests require you to answer the questions as True, False or Cannot say based on the information provided. Many test takes get caught out with these tests as they sometimes base their answers on their ‘knowledge’ of a subject matter as opposed to answering the questions based solely on the information provided.
It is very important to understand that accuracy is more important than completing the test. Many employers or test administrators will deduct marks for incorrect answers. You need to work quickly but you should not sacrifice speed for accuracy or results.
