The USPS Virtual Entry Assessments (VEAs) are a series of online tests designed to evaluate the qualifications and skills of candidates applying for various positions within the United States Postal Service. These assessments, introduced as part of the USPS’s hiring process, aim to identify applicants who possess the necessary abilities to perform effectively in roles such as mail carriers, clerks, and mail handlers. The VEAs include several different tests, each tailored to specific job categories. For instance, the VEA 474 is for mail carriers, the VEA 475 for mail handlers, the VEA 476 for clerks, and the VEA 477 for customer service roles. These tests cover a range of competencies including personal characteristics, work styles, and situational judgment to ensure candidates are well-suited for the demands of postal service work.
Candidates take these assessments online, usually within a few days of submitting their job application. The tests are timed and consist of multiple-choice questions that evaluate cognitive abilities, behavioral tendencies, and job-specific skills. Scoring well on the VEAs is crucial as it determines whether an applicant progresses to the next stage of the hiring process.

The USPS Assessment Tests are one the toughest assessments used in America. Only by passing these exams can will you be eligible a position in thr United States Postal Service. They are designed to be tricky so that only the best candidates succeed.
Depending on the role you are applying for there are a number of different assessments you may face. In this package we have covered the eight most common tests: Work scenario SJT’s, three different types of personality tests, a checking test, numerical, verbal reasoning, mechanical and electrical comprehension.
The USPS assessment tests determines whether you possess the relevant skill set to be a successful candidate for a role within the United States Postal Service. You will be assessed on your ability to evaluate, analyse and interpret information as well as if your values and beliefs align with the organisation’s ethos.
In our experience, and having consulted several previous applicants, the most effective way to prepare is to undertake numerous sample test questions under timed conditions. By practicing all of the different question types, it enables you to improve your scores dramatically and also simulates the actual test. When preparing for your test, follow these simple steps:
STEP 1: Obtain examples of the types of questions you will face during your assessment. Read them and gain an understanding of the format. If you understand the style of questions, the real test will be less daunting.
STEP 2: Practice sample assessment test questions regularly before the real test. Little and often is far better than cramming the night before your test.
Below, are examples of test questions that are designed to help you prepare for your actual USPS Assessment test. We have included a number of sample questions below. Please note this does not represent all of the different tests in the suite. Included in the package are eight different categories of tests.
Answer: D: Best, B: Worst
Explanation: D is the best answer to the scenario. This shows a willingness to rectify the issue and also learn from this. This demonstrates integrity, responsibility and commitment to excellence. A is a possible solution, but you are relying on the support of others to help rectify your issue, D is a better option. B, is the worst answer which lacks integrity and is unethical. How small the mistake, you cannot guarantee this will not cause issues for the organisation. C does nothing to resolve the issue, complaining about the pressure you are put under will not look good and demonstrates a lack of accountability.
