TOP TIP 1
Some people like to work on the questions they find most difficult first. Tackling these questions at the beginning will help them continue on with the test. However, some people prefer to leave the hard questions to last, but this is often considered intimidating. Leaving the harder questions until last may put you off throughout the test and possibly jeopardise your answers to the simpler questions. Pick a way that you feel most comfortable with and use it throughout your Non-Verbal Reasoning tests.

Pay attention to everything! If you are unsure about what the differences are or what is happening in the sequences, pay attention to everything you see. Count all the sides, angles, colours, shading, line types, sizing, rotations, reflections etc. That way you can eliminate what is the same and what is different about the sequence.

- You need to pay close attention to what each shape is showing. Some of the shapes may look similar, but they may be slightly different. The shapes may join at a slightly different position, or the size of the shape may differ somewhat, so you must pay attention to what the shape is showing.
- The key thing to remember for this question is detail. Pay attention to the smaller details within the figures, in order to distinguish which two shapes are identical.

- These questions require a great level of concentration and ability to recognise patterns. In order for you to work out which figure is the odd one out, you need to work out which figure has something different about it.
- Look out for colours, rotations, reflections, and numbers etc, anything that can make one of the figures different from the rest. For the sample question above, you will notice that the circles are highlighting what is missing and therefore this makes it the odd one out. The other figures (A, B, C and D) all have either a black or white square balanced on top of the horizontal line. Instead, Figure E has two squares attached to the bottom of the line.

- These types of questions require you to pay close attention to detail. You need to determine what the question is asking you.
- For example, in this question it is asking you which figure is NOT a rotation of the Question Figure.
- Therefore, you need to find which shape will not look like the Question Figure if it were to be rotated. Maybe the shape has changed slightly or maybe it is a reflection and not a rotation.
